NEWPORT Speedway Rookie Class RULEBOOK

1. COMPETING MODEL:
   1. Any American made car; 105-inch or greater wheel base
   2. no high-performance vehicles or motors
2. BODY:
   1. All glass, lights, light covers to be removed
   2. Windshield may be replaced with Lexan (full windshield)
   3. no screens; no half-windshields
   4. All interior must be removed
   5. headliners, carpet, door panels, any flammable fabric must be removed
   6. No excessive "gutting" of doors, fenders, hood - no excess "gutting" for increased tire clearance
   7. Doors to be welded/bolted closed
   8. Firewall between driver compartment and engine compartment required - must be completely sealed
   9. Firewall between trunk compartment and driver compartment required - must be completely sealed
   10. Stock bumpers may be reinforced
   11. needs to be pre-approved by technical inspector
3. SUSPENSION:
   1. No suspension modification
   2. no modification of A-frames or position
   3. all wheels allowed maximum 3 degrees negative or positive camber
   4. all cars must maintain minimum 5-inch ground clearance at all times with driver
   5. NO cutting springs
   6. NO after market springs allowed
   7. NO racing shocks - must remain stock and located in stock position
4. FUEL CELL:
   1. Fuel cells mandatory
   2. fuel cell to be installed in trunk area
5. ROLL CAGE:
   1. Minimum four driver's side door bars required
   2. minimum three passenger side door bars required or X-bars required
   3. minimum 1-3/4" diameter .090" wall tubing
   4. Roof loop bar required
6. WHEEL:
   1. All wheels must be the same size
   2. All lug nuts must be in place, on studs pressed into axle, and firmly secure
   3. maximum width 7-inches
   4. any stock or aftermarket steel wheel
   5. no aluminum wheels
   6. minimum 14-inch; maximum 15-inch wheels allowed
   7. all wheels allowed maximum 3 degrees positive or negative camber
   8. Track Officals have COMPLETE authority in regards to wheel
7. TIRE:
   1. DOT Street Legal Tire
   2. NO racing tire
   3. No SR, VR rated
   4. Must be same size
   5. 205 R 70 Maximum
   6. Track Officals have COMPLETE authority in regards to tire
8. ENGINE:
   1. Engine must be stock for make and model
   2. No modifications to the stock engine
   3. no work to stock engine allowed
   4. stock valve covers for that make/model
   5. no headers
   6. no roller cams
   7. Overflow catch system (catch can) required - NO ANTI-FREEZE
9. SAFETY:
   1. Aluminum race seats required
   2. 5 or 6 point race harness required
   3. seat belts must have manufacture date within 3 years date of event
   4. Battery may be moved into cab area, covered and securely fastened
   5. marine battery box recommended
   6. No mirrors outside car
   7. inside mirror permitted
   8. Functional driver's side window net required
   9. Car must be equipped with on-board fire extinguisher
   10. Helmets required
   11. must meet SA95 or SA2000 requirements
   12. drivers SFI suit required
   13. One 12-inch diameter (circular) hole may be cut into hood for safety
10. NUMBERS:
    1. Car numbers must be visible for scoring purposes
    2. door numbers must be 18-inches in height
    3. posted on both doors
    4. roof numbers required
    5. 28-inch minimum height
    6. recommended to face reading toward tower/grandstand
    7. NO spray can numbers
11. GENERAL:
    1. A vehicle with a flat tire must pit and replace that tire
    2. Any item not specifically covered above must remain 100% stock
    3. Track officials will have discretion to modify these rules as needed including event night changes
    4. ABSOLUTELY NO RADIOS
    5. 3200 # Minimum Weight Limit
    6. If you crash and lose ANTI FREEZE you pay for the kitty litter.

    Only 3 gallons of gas will be allowed after the race to make weight
